The Broadlands Country Show is just around the corner, and as well as a jam-packed line-up of country inspired features and entertainment on the bill, 2018 also welcomes the all-new British Falconry & Raptor Fair to the proceedings.
An event in itself, the British Falconry & Raptor Fair has been established for over 25 years and as well as offering displays from some of the country’s leading falconers and a vast range of exhibition stands, it’s also found its new permanent home here at the Broadlands Country Show. A must stop-off for falconers and everyone interested in discovering more about these incredible birds of prey, take a look at some of our experts demonstrating at this May…
Icarus Falconry & RaptorXotics
Icarus Falconry & RaptorXotics is run by Tom, who started handling birds in his early teens after meeting Mike, the then Head Falconer at Icarus. Tom manages a team of staff and birds and develops high impact flying demonstrations at Muncaster Castle in West Cumbria alongside the Hawk Conservancy Trust. Today, he manages Icarus Falconry and will be sharing his wealth of knowledge with visitors to this year’s Broadlands Country Show.
Amy from Mentmore Falconry will be flying her team of falcons and hawks on both days of the Broadlands Country Show. Amy runs Mentmore Falconry in Buckinghamshire where she provides both Falconry experience and hunting days using her hawks, as well as hosting hunting days for falconers who have their own. Her displays are always both educational and highly entertaining. She will be on hand to discuss booking a place on her estate as well as her role within the highly successful Women’s Falconry Club, of which she is one of the founders.
The ever-cheerful pair that is Danny & Joel from Bull X will not only be flying a variety of hawks at the Broadlands Country Show, they will also be displaying their lure drag machine using a dog for fitness training of sight hounds. As always, they will be on site to discuss any fitness requirements for your hawks, falcon or dog.
Shane has been involved in falconry and falconry displays for literally half of his life. In fact, Shane began volunteering at a falconry centre when he was just 13 and now 26, he is an avid falconer, breeder and is part of the conservation project Lugger. Shane will be providing us with one of his stunning displays on both days of the Broadlands Country Show.
Trevor Fowles will be joining the British Falconry & Raptor Fair this May and will be flying his stunning team of falcons and eagles. If anyone has seen Trevor fly “Shelby” the Bald Eagle, they will understand that this is an opportunity to see this eagle fly in one of the most suitable places in the country for such a majestic eagle. A sight not to miss!
With an action packed arena full of demonstrations and displays from all of the leading falconers, complemented by various displays and falconry related exhibitions, the British Falconry and Raptor Fair is a must for all falconers.
